This project is part of a landscape-level ecosystem restoration initiative. It will generate revenues from sawlogs and carbon credits while permanently restoring critically endangered woodlands in a global biodiversity hotspot. Scale is flexible from 200 ha to over 10,000. Investors can expect 8.2% IRR for a 1000 ha project, which is the scale reported in this document.
This profitable restoration initiative requires capital to purchase freehold land and establish a woodland forest by preparing the site, planting trees for timber and habitat, and direct-seed endemic understory after first thinning at age six years. Funds are required for project maintenance, including weeding, fertilising, pruning, thinning, harvesting, and log haulage. Insurance against fire is planned from years seven to twenty. Project management fees represents 6% of total expenses.
